Title: Cross-flow and torsion coupled dynamic response of submerged floating tunnel under the action of ocean current
Abstract: Submerged floating tunnel (SFT) is a kind of long distance flexible sea structure. The dynamic behavior of SFT is bound to be affected by the action of ocean current. According to the typical cross-section of the structure, the two-dimensional plane coupled vibration equations are derived based on Lagrange equations to analyze the cross-flow and torsion coupled dynamic response of SFT in ocean current environment. Meantime, the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method is used to solve the vibration equations. Finally, the effect of some key parameters, such as the height-width ratio, eccentric throw and the current velocity are investigated. The results show that the eccentric throw and the current velocity have obvious effects on the coupled structure vibration. With the increase of the eccentric throw and current velocity, the amplitude of the coupled vibration increases. Moreover, it can guarantee the relatively small vibration amplitude in cross-flow direction and torsion, when the height-width ratio is between 0.5 and 0.6.

Dr. Yiqiang Xiang(项贻强), is a Professor in Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, Zhejiang University. He is a vice chairmen of Zhejiang Province Building industry Technology Innovation Association, also director of Center for Historical Bridges Research of Zhejiang University, Mao Yishen Science, Technology and Education Foundation Society in China and Director of Research Center for SFT, CCEA, ZJU. He is a member of China Group of the International Association for Bridge Maintenance and Safety (IABMAS) and a membership of International Association for Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE). He is a membership of standing committee of structure vibration resistance, control and health monitoring association of the Chinese academy of vibration engineering. He is a membership of editorial board for Chinese Journal of Highway and Transport(中国公路学报), Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development (J Highw Transp Res Dev, China, 公路交通科技), Journal of China & Foreign Highway(中外公路).
Prof. Xiang has been engaged in design, teaching and related scientific research works of bridge and Structure engineering from 1982. Research interests involved in SHM, whole life design analysis theory, steel-concrete composite bridges (structures), accelerated bridge construction technology and risk control of bridge engineering, the inspection, evaluation and reinforcement of bridges, submerged floating tunnel, etc.   Prof. Xiang has held and finished three NSFC Grants(No.51279178, No.51178416, No.51541810), two international cooperation projects and more than 10 scientific plan projects from local governments. He had published more than 200 academic papers in important Chinese Journal and international academic journals, such as Journal of Bridge Engineering(ASCE),Marine structures, Ocean Engineering, Applied Sciences, Structural Engineering and Mechanics-An International Journal, Shock and Variation  Chinese Journal of highway and Transport, China Civil Engineering Journal, Journal of Zhejiang University(Engineering Science), etc.,in which more than 100 peapers are indexed in EI or SCI. There are 4 published books, such as 《Cracking mechanism and control of concrete box girder bridges》(in Chinese),《Movable formwork design, construction and maintenance technical guidelines of bridges》(in Chinese), 《The numerical methods and procedures for analyzing the bridge structures》(in Chinese) in the bridge engineering field, etc. He has been awarded five times Science and technology progress prizes, which come from China Highway and Transportation Society, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province etc. He was awarded More than Ten invention patents by the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China.
